At the H.S. Track meet in Altamont on May 9 a few school records were broken:
Addie McWhorter broke the high jump record when she cleared 5' 3" (1.60 meters). The previous record was 5' 2.5" set in 1983. The 4x100M relay team of Cordelia Lytle, Julia Perri, Addie McWhorter, and Laney Baldrige set the new school record when they finished in 54.84 seconds breaking the old record from 1978 which was 55.2. The 4x200M relay team of Cordelia Lytle, Julia Perri, Addie McWhorter, and Laney Baldrige broke the record that was established last week at the NTC meet. These ladies finished with a time of 1:56.4. The previous record was 1:59.2. (The record setting relay team is pictured here)
Congratulations to the following St. Elmo & Brownstown Jr. High students for qualifying for the State Track meet! The State meet is May 13-14 at the Eastside Centre in East Peoria. Ryan Powell, Hunter Poe, Keelan Speagle, Gabe Ashe, Lucas Powell, Wade Stine, DeMario Ledbetter, Benji Lowe, Calvin Voelker, Drake Morris, Dodge Willms, Leslie Felmlee, Presley Williams, Dayana Haslett, Danika Ramsey, Chloe Austin-Counts, Stella Stonecipher.
The St. Elmo FFA Greenhouse will be open Monday, Tuesday and Thursday of this week from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm. All annual flowers and vegetables are $1.00 each. Hanging baskets are $10.00 each. We have beef steak and cherry tomato plants still available in our vegetable section. And in the annual flowers section we have vinca, hypoestes, celosia, marigolds and coleus still available. Thank you so much to all that came out and supported our opening day sale! We had tremendous success with the sale and the students were so glad to see everyone show their support for the FFA!
Congratulations to Gavyn Smith for finishing 4th Place Overall at the Illinois State FFA Ag Mechanics CDE - Welding Division!
At the N.T.C. Track meet in Altamont on May 3rd the H.S. girls team finished in 2nd place. There was also a school record broken as the girls 4x200 meter relay team finished with a time of 1:59.2 breaking the old record of 2:02.87. The ladies who broke the record are Cordelia Lytle, Julia Perri, Emma McNabb & Laney Baldrige.

Congratulations to Anna Stine for placing in the top 10 as an individual at the Illinois State FFA Livestock Judging CDE. Anna placed 8th overall out of 484 competitors! The team of Lane Stine, Lowell Wilhour, Kinley Carson, Anna Stine and Lane Goodwin finished 20th overall as a team out of 104 teams! The team judged beef cattle, swine, sheep, and goats.
The BSE H.S. Baseball team will be playing at GCS Ballpark (Home of the Gateway Grizzlies) on Monday, May 9. The J.V. team will play at 4:30pm with the Varsity game scheduled for approx. 6:30pm. The tickets are $4 each and can be purchased through any HS baseball player or Coach.

The St. Elmo FFA Officer Team & Members would like to invite all FFA members and their family to the Annual FFA Banquet, which will be held on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at 6:30 pm in the High School Gymnasium. There will be a catered meal provided. Doors will open at 6:00. There will be the St. Elmo FFA Work & Silent Auction and Alumni Pie Auction held at the end of the evening! At the April 12 Track Meet in Teutopolis Laney Baldrige broke the school record for the 100M dash. Her time was 12.7 seconds and the record that was broken was 13.1 seconds set in 1987 by Eva Becker.
