Michell Schaal was the recipient of the May Teacher Spotlight gift basket provided by Jordan Mahon Country Financial.
Mrs. Schaal is from Vandalia and started teaching in the St. Elmo district in 1994. She has taught 1st grade, Title I Math, 6th grade, Jr. High Math, and is currently teaching 5th and 6th grade Math. She and her husband live in St. Elmo and have two children (Taylor and Patrick). She also has two grandchildren (Harper and Mila).
Her favorite quote is "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world." -Nelson Mandela
She enjoys watching Chicago PD and Blue Bloods.
She says that the best advice she has ever been given is to "Do what you love and you will never work a day in your life."
A little-known fact about Mrs. Schaal is that she has traveled to Mexico, Canada, and Australia.
