The April "Teacher Spotlight", sponsored by Country Financial, is Amanda Copeland. Ms. Copeland is from Centralia, IL. When she initially accepted the position at St. Elmo, she planned for it to be "a one year gig", but she fell in love with the school and is now going on her 6th year. She is a high School English teacher.
Ms. Copeland's favorite quote is: "Whether you think you can or you think you can't, you're right." (Henry Ford)
The best advice that she has been given is from one of her college professors who told her that relationships always come first. What's more important than curriculum is the life lessons you can teach your students because of the relationships you build with them.
In her free time, Amanda is the JV volleyball coach and Club volleyball coach. She is also involved with the school play, and she works at Pinky's during the summer months. A little known fact about her is that she is a True Crime junkie.
Congratulations, Ms. Copeland!
A big thanks to Stefanie Putnam with Small Town Treats for providing items in Ms. Copeland's gift basket.
